Choosing Interior Office Colours For Commercial Painting

by | Commercial Painting

The best interior colours for an office are the ones that suit the work people do there. Light, neutral bases keep a space bright and flexible, and well-chosen accents add personality without tiring anyone out. Colour won’t fix a badly planned office, but it can make a good one feel better.

Start with how the space is used

A call centre, a design studio and a law firm don’t need the same feel. Work out what each area is for: focus, collaboration, meeting clients or relaxing. Then choose colours that support that use rather than a single scheme for everything.

Neutral bases give you flexibility

Whites, warm greys and soft neutrals reflect light, make rooms feel larger and work with almost any furniture and branding. They also make future changes simple, and they’re the safest choice if the lease will end or the layout will change. Our piece on re-leasing painting covers why landlords favour them.

Use accents with purpose

A feature wall in reception, a colour on a meeting room door or a band in a breakout area can bring in your brand and mark out zones. Keep bold colours to smaller areas so they stay lively rather than overwhelming.

Light matters

Natural and artificial light change how a colour looks. A grey that looks crisp in a sunny room can look flat and cold in a windowless one. Test samples in the actual space, at different times of day, before you decide.

Choose finishes for the wear

Colour is only half of the decision. Corridors, reception and kitchens take knocks and need scuff-resistant, washable finishes. Ceilings usually take a flat finish that hides imperfections. A good painter will recommend a finish for each area.

Plan the work around your team

Colour changes are easier to accept when the painting doesn’t disrupt anyone. Our guide to what to sort out before the painters arrive and our piece on painting while you keep trading cover the practical side.

There's no single answer to how long exterior paint lasts in Brisbane. It depends on how well the surface was prepared, the quality of the coating, how much sun and rain the wall gets and how the building's been looked after. The good news is that most of those things...
